Community Forum in Charlottetown!

The PEI Working Group for a Livable Income

is hosting a Community Forum about

BASIC INCOME GUARANTEE (BIG)

Wednesday, June 11, 2014

6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Murphy’s Community Centre,

200 Richmond St, Charlottetown

BIG, sometimes known as Guaranteed Annual Income, is a plan that would ensure that each individual and family has a decent income. Right now, low wages and inadequate social programs are keeping too many people in poverty. BIG would use the tax system to boost incomes to a livable level, bring dignity to peoples’ lives and lead to healthier individuals and communities.

The PEI Working Group for a Livable Income believes that Prince Edward Island would be an excellent home for a pilot project about BIG. The community forum will give people a chance to learn more about BIG, and offer their ideas about how it might work and why they think it’s important.

The event is open to everyone, and there is no cost to attend.
